          5 STAR Futures

5 STAR Futures is our award-winning community education programme created in 2012.

It has won awards from Business in the Community, Liverpool Law Society and Manchester Law Society. The purpose of the scheme is to enable aspirational young people to unlock their potential by developing their confidence and employability skills to become more work ready.

          5 STAR Futures Workshops

The main part of the programme involves a group of volunteer coaches from DWF going into local secondary schools for workshops each month. The workshops are delivered by volunteers and topics include workplace behaviours, effective communication and resilience. The final session is the Awards Evening where the pupils each give a speech in front of their guests from home, their classmates and their teachers.

“5 STAR Futures demonstrates our commitment to the next generation of young people, who will be responsible for the economic success of the country in years to come. Confidence and resilience are two of the most important attributes needed to help young people transition into employment and navigate the world of work. The programme was launched to meet a real requirement by the education sector to find solutions to the challenges it faces, especially that of employment for school leavers.”

“At All Hallows RC High School we strive to provide our students with the very best opportunities to realise their academic potential and to maximise their employability skills. We are in our third year of the 5 STAR Futures programme and the impact has been fantastic. DWF provides experienced professionals from its Manchester office who come into school and work with our students to support the development of their confidence and employability skills and to enable them to become more work ready. The feedback from the students is always great and our partnership with DWF is now an important aspect of our employability programme within the school.” - Paula McIntosh-Kemp, Business Manager at All Hallows RC

“The courage of the students to stand up and speak in front of their families and peers was extraordinary. I was lucky to have participated in one of the 5 STAR Futures sessions in January and the growth in confidence of the students was obvious to see.” - Sophie Hope, North West Education Manager for Business in the Community

"The benefit to our students last year was incredible, and the opportunity to have our new Year 10s take part was too good to pass up. Last year those who took part gained a real insight into the world of work and the mentoring they received really helped them to develop their skills, confidence and resilience. We expect this year will be no different and look forward to continuing our partnership with DWF." - Sally Beevers, Head Teacher at Broadgreen International School
