The implementation of Sentencing Guidelines for environmental offences has seen fines escalating into the millions of pounds. As a result, the implementation of a robust emergency response and crisis plan are more important now than they have ever been. In addition, companies need to consider the increasing public scrutiny of their operations on the environment and the clear reputational risks that brings with it.

This seminar will look at our top tips for managing a pollution incident from initial response through to closure and best practice in dealing with the regulators. Join us as we discuss emerging environmental risks and the latest developments in the crisis management arena including:

        • Recent environmental cases and emerging environmental exposures
        • Environmental sentencing guidelines and increasing fines
        • Enforcement Undertakings
        • Managing a pollution incident and business continuity
        • How to deal with environmental regulators
        • We will also be joined by OHES Environmental, an environmental emergency response provider, to talk about case examples of the many hundreds of pollution incidents they respond to annually.

After the presentation there will be an interactive session where participants can consider how they would respond to a pollution incident, deal with the regulators, and manage the media at a time of high pressure.
