DWF announced as Responsible Business Awards 2015 finalist

            Date: 06/02/2015

DWF has made the final stage of the 2015 Responsible Business Awards, run by Business in the Community.

DWF is just one of six companies to be named as a finalist in the school partnership category and has been recognised for its innovative education programme 5 STAR Futures that delivers a range of tailored workshops to over 30 schools across the UK. The programme focuses on self-efficacy to improve social mobility and provides young people with a practical framework to improve confidence, build resilience and develop key employability skills for the future.

The Responsible Business Awards celebrate UK businesses that are taking action to address social and environment issues to support their communities.63 companies have been selected as award finalists from the UK and abroad, across 14 different award categories.

5 STAR Futures was founded by DWF lawyer Simon Price, who commented:“We’re delighted to have reached the final stage for this year’s Responsible Business Awards. Social background is still a major factor in determining a young person’s future, and through initiatives like 5 STAR Futures and long term partnerships with schools we want to stop social background predicting a young person’s success.”

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: “The Responsible Business Awards give much needed visibility to organisations who are putting responsible behaviour at the heart of how they do business.  The finalists are each playing their part to create a fairer society and more sustainable future by bringing to life the practical role that businesses can take to address some of our most pressing issues. We congratulate DWF for being an inspirational example for others to learn from.”

All finalist companies will be celebrated through a series of Responsible Business Gala events taking place across the UK in June and sponsored by 2014 Responsible Business of the Year, National Grid.

The overall winners in each category will be announced in London at Business in the Community’s Annual Responsible Business Gala Dinner on 7 July 2015.
