International legal business DWF has appointed partner Will Marshall to its insurance team in London, enhancing its professional indemnity capability as it continues to drive growth in the City. Will joins from Capsticks and specialises in defendant medical malpractice law.

With 20 years' experience handling medical malpractice claims, Will advises on a wide range of issues, from high volume, delegated authority claims through to maximum severity injury cases, including cases involving brain damage, serious neurological injury, fatal accidents and surgical claims.

Will's clients include insurers, individual self-employed consultants, private healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, health sector staffing agencies, services ancillary to medicine, pharmacists, physiotherapists, paramedics, mental health & addiction rehabilitation services, cosmetic clinics, body artists, salons and sexual health & family planning services.

Antony Marsh, DWF Head of Professional Indemnity, said: "We're focused on strengthening our insurance team in London and expanding our offering. Will's appointment enables us to develop our practice further so DWF can continue to deliver commercially-focused advice to our insurer clients and support them in defending medical malpractice claims."

Will Marshall said: "The challenges faced by healthcare professionals and their insurers in this rapidly changing market have never been greater. Medical malpractice claims will keep rising and we're now seeing the impact technology is having on the sector with the growth of telemedicine and AI and the increasing importance of information governance and tighter regulation. DWF has a reputation for staying ahead of trends in the insurance market and the firm is well placed to advise insurers and healthcare organisations on upcoming changes and the anticipated growth in domestic and international claims."

DWF has continued to invest in its insurance capability across the firm recently with a number of senior hires in the last 12 months, including partner Simon Gildener based in London, partner Nina Gaston based in Dublin and partner Jill Sinclair based in Scotland.
