Partner // Head of Employment (Manchester)

Joanne is a Partner in the Employment team, specialising in both contentious and non-contentious employment issues and employment law training.
She acts predominantly for companies, including multi-site organisations across the UK, as well as a number of household name businesses. She has a particular specialism in working with organisations in the retail sector.

Joanne provides practical, straightforward advice, focused on understanding her clients' commercial needs. She appears regularly in the employment tribunal at both preliminary and full hearings.

            Her recent experience includes

            • Managing a large-scale change to terms and conditions of employment at a unionised site, including the removal of a guaranteed annual pay increase.
            • Advising a high profile client on the removal of a director with a high Twitter profile, and managing the potential publicity.
            • Advising on the impact of the recent case law on holiday pay and sick pay in connection with permanent health insurance.
            • Advising a client in tribunal proceedings involving four claimants who were former directors of the respondent in connection with a TUPE transfer following an insolvency situation, resulting in all claims being dismissed.

The ‘extremely client-focused and responsive’ Joanne Frew ‘builds incredibly close relationships with her clients and works tirelessly to secure the best outcome’.
