Rob joined DWF in January 2018 and is now a member of the DWF Adjusting team investigating a variety of professional indemnity, surveying and property losses directly for insurers, and also assisting lawyer colleagues with advice on technical aspects of engineering and construction PI claims.

He is a member of the Building and Valuation divisions of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, is a Chartered Building Engineer and a member of both the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Rob has considerable experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, catastrophe response, CAR and EAR claims, money and fidelity guarantee claims, professional indemnity claims, property damage claims, insurance policy coverage and residential property survey and valuation.

He has investigated and handled numerous high-value insurance material damage claims throughout the Caribbean, Bahamas, Asia the Middle East and throughout the UK, across many policy classes for both insurers and reinsurers. Major losses have included a £20 million claim following the Buncefield explosion, and, in the Middle East, damage to newly constructed power stations and highway projects in Saudi Arabia, impact damage to an offshore oil well in the Persian Gulf, fire damage to numerous industrial and retail units and a professional indemnity claim of over £30 million involving a new steel tube plant in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia.

Experience has also included catastrophic flood damage in Bangkok amounting to in excess of £100 million involving a nylon manufacturer, an international firm manufacturing coffee and dried milk products and a major car manufacturer. He has advised insurers on policy interpretation across most classes of policy, but with particular reference to construction and engineering projects, weather related and structural (subsidence, heave and landslip) property damage and financial claims for a number of Saudi Arabian banks.

Rob is able to draw upon this vast experience in providing early advice to insurers, either directly or in conjunction with lawyer colleagues, thereby ensuring that a liability or loss is correctly identified and that appropriate tactics and measures are adopted to minimise the exposure to consequent damages and costs. Mitigation of policy exposure, through informed technical enquiry is the essence of Rob’s work.
