In addition to his day to day costs practice, Simon has acted as an expert witness and provides expert determination in high value costs claims.

He is interested in the developing legal market and views these changes as an opportunity for innovation. Simon has developed new and innovative methods of working with clients and is at the forefront of new forms of delivering legal services.

In 1994 Simon founded his own firm dealing with technical costs litigation. This developed into a multi-million pound operation employing over twenty staff before it merged with Keelys LLP (latterly NeoLaw) in 1994. During this time Simon headed up a large team dealing with a wide range of costs litigation. In a further evolution of the business, Simon and his team joined DWF in June 2017.

Outside of work, Simon is a mentor to new students at Birkbeck College of the University of London, helping support and motivate them through their studies.
