Legal business DWF has appointed Andreas Panzer as a partner in the firm’s tax team, where he will help drive the growth of the firm’s international tax practice following the launch of the firm’s German operations. Based in Munich, Andreas was formerly a partner at international law firm Beiten Burkhardt before establishing his own practice, and specialises in major national and cross-border transactions and restructurings.

With a focus on corporate and international tax law, Andreas has significant experience working with UK and US clients on cross-border transactions and advises corporate clients, financial institutions and investors on domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and reorganisation projects. His expertise also includes conflict and negotiation management and he serves as counsel to companies on tax controversies, as well as advising on complex tax matters for ultra-high net worth individuals.

Andreas has advised organisations across a number of DWF’s key sectors including energy, technology, as well as acting on a number of significant corporate transactions, restructurings and high volume tax litigation matters for startups, media companies and across the technology industry, which is a key sector focus for DWF Germany.

Andreas comments on his appointment: “DWF already has a leading corporate and tax practice in the UK, and the firm’s recent launch in Germany and fast-growing international presence across Europe and the MENA region make it well placed to deliver comprehensive, commercially-focused tax support to its increasingly international client base. I look forward to working with colleagues in Munich and across the firm to help the firm build its profile in this area and expand its service offerings to clients.”

John Toon, Head of Commercial Tax at DWF, comments: “We are continuing to focus on developing our international capability in response to client demand for tax support on complex, multi-jurisdiction matters, and Andreas’ brings experience and sector capability that will complement our existing corporate and tax teams in the UK and allow us to strengthen our specialist tax and restructuring expertise for the benefit of domestic and international clients.”

To strengthen its international capability and enhance the firm’s offering across key sectors, DWF merged with commercial law and tax specialists BridgehouseLaw in January 2016. The firm now operates offices from Cologne and Munich in addition to its 14 locations across the UK and Ireland, Dubai and Brussels.
