Our Liverpool based Advocacy Team is growing and we are recruiting a Junior Advocacy Clerk to join our In House team of Advocates and Barristers. This is a pivotal role within the team and the Clerk will support the team in the smooth and efficient running of the Advocacy Clerking services across our national and international practice.

Main Duties

  • Assisting with the management of the Advocacy Diary
  • Responding efficiently to enquiries from File Handlers
  • Issuing offers of Advocacy Representation to File Handlers
  • Liaising with File Handlers as to continued effectiveness of future bookings
  • Using Excel to record all bookings in the Advocacy diary to identify trends within the business and promote future growth of the team
  • General administration including chasing and scanning files for the Advocates and checking court lists prior to hearings
  • Managing relations with fee earners to assist the future growth of the team

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your evolving role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.

Person specification

The successful candidate will preferably have previous experience in a Clerking role within barristers’ chambers, however this is not essential and full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Lead Clerk and Advocacy team members, have confidence and ability to deal professionally and courteously with Partners, Solicitors, File Handlers and colleagues at all levels throughout the firm. Possess commercial awareness to build relationships and win the confidence of colleagues to secure and retain new clients from within the firm. Display excellent time management skills to work effectively and efficiently, both independently and in collaboration, with the Lead Clerk and Advocates on a daily basis.
