DWF is one of the UK’s largest legal businesses and has an award-winning reputation for client service excellence and effective operational management. Our business support functions are a vital element of what makes us such a successful firm.

Our Non-Legal Apprenticeships are designed to help you develop a career in a professional services firm undertaking roles in either finance, office management, IT, facilities or providing administrative support to a legal team.

We are currently recruiting for apprentices to join us over the next few months. This is a fantastic opportunity for ambitious school/college leavers or people looking for a new career in the legal sector. You will gain valuable legal experience at one of the UK’s largest legal businesses, work towards a nationally recognised qualification, and get paid at the same time.

What does the apprenticeship involve?

Non Legal Apprentices will work in either one of our central support teams (Office Management, Finance or IT) or within a legal team providing dedicated administrative support.

The starting salary outside of London is £11,000 plus benefits and £15,000 in London. Throughout the apprenticeship you will have the support of your team members along with a dedicated supervisor and mentor.

What will I study?

Non Legal Apprentices will study a range of modules, usually online, covering the topics required by the awarding body such as City & Guilds, BIFM or AAT. The most relevant apprenticeship will be selected based on the role you are undertaking. The Level 2 or Level 3 qualification will be offered depending on your current qualifications and scope within the role.

What happens after the apprenticeship?

We hope that all of our apprentices complete their studies and decide to stay with us. Your exact role on qualification will be determined by the skills and abilities you have shown during the previous two years. In advance of completion we will discuss with you where your skills can be best utilised within the firm.

Entry level requirements

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
  • 3 C's (or equivalent) at A level.

We accept applications from students due to sit their exams in summer 2016.*

As well as good academics, you must have excellent communication skills, an eye for detail and the ability to follow instructions and be able to work well as part of a team. You do not need legal work experience to apply, but work and life experience is valuable.  Part time work particularly in customer service or retail may be an advantage.

In your application we are keen to see your drive and determination for a career in professional services and a good understanding of our firm.

What is the application procedure?

Online application

The first step is to make your application. Follow the instructions detailed for each individual vacancy. If you are required to produce a covering letter as part of your application, please make sure you address the following areas:

  • Why an apprenticeship rather than university?
  • Why DWF?
  • The skills and abilities you have that make you an ideal candidate.

Spend time producing your answers and don’t hold back- really sell yourself to us! Pay attention to your grammar and spelling, and don’t always rely on your spell checker!

As we shortlist and recruit on an ongoing basis please submit your application as soon as possible.

Interview

If your application is successful you will be invited for an initial interview. If you are successful at this stage the next step will be a further interview with the team you will be working with.

Offers, start date and induction

If you are offered a place to start with us you will begin your journey at DWF with a comprehensive induction about the firm.
