            Meet Jonathan Patterson

Head of Development at DWF Ventures, Jonathan Patterson, talks about how new ideas and innovation play a major role at DWF.

            Name: Jonathan Patterson

Job title: Managing Director & Head of Development, DWF Ventures

            Location: UK, Manchester

            1. How has your employment journey led you to DWF?

I joined DWF after spending 10 years at another Law Firm in various business roles having started my career at a City Law Firm as a Graduate Trainee. The thing that most of my previous roles have had in common was the need to change or adapt an existing service or product to deliver something new and different to clients.

            2. What is the best thing about working here?

There are lots of things to choose from but I think ultimately the best thing about working at DWF is the opportunity to try new things and the willingness to challenge the traditional way of doing something. It can be rare in professional services to find an organisation where past precedent and convention doesn't get in the way of new ideas and innovation.

            3. What has been your proudest moment at DWF so far?

I could point to several things like becoming a trustee of the DWF Foundation or getting board approval for our first R&D project but I think the proudest moment is starting up DWF Ventures and seeing the thinking and hard work of a number of people being realised in a brand new model and a new DWF company.

            4. What is different about working at DWF?

I think there are three main things that make DWF different from the other businesses I have worked in previously – ambition, pace of change and a willingness to try new things.

            5. How has DWF offered to support your development?

            In three main ways:

            • Opportunities to try new things that stretch into new areas of learning.
            • Access to senior people for guidance and input from their experience.
            • Formal learning support with useful top up learning via the DWF academy.

            6. How do you get involved with activities or projects that are outside of your role?

I am a trustee of the DWF Foundation and have been involved in the award winning 5 Star Futures programme and other activities that promote social mobility in schools.

            7. In three words, how would you describe DWF?

            Doing things differently.
