DWF LLP is seeking to recruit a Paralegal/Chartered Legal Executive/Solicitor with 0 – 3 years relevant experience to join the Occupational Health team in Manchester.
The Occupational Health team deals with EL, PL and other injury claims along with various disease matters to include deafness, VWF, asbestos injuries, WRULD/RSI and other disease claims such as asthma and stress related injuries. Some non injury litigation is also undertaken, product liability work e.g. and experience of all three areas will be an advantage.
The vacancy has arisen due to an increase in instructions generally as well as the need to cover the work of a departing solicitor; we will consider applications from candidates with strong academics at degree level or above who possess relevant experience of fee earning, and have good organisational and IT skills, there is an element of working with and reporting on MI, and working with a case management system. .
Additionally, a willingness and record of work with unqualified fee earners on volume instructions is an advantage.
The candidate must be prepared to support the BD activities of the team in particular in relation to collateral, events and presentations and to demonstrate experience of these activities in past or current roles.
Our team serves a broad range of insurers, runoff syndicates, brokers, private companies and the self-insured.
We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate a real interest in Occupational Health work, who is a team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail. We are also seeking a candidate who is familiar with working in a commercial environment and experience of Fixed Fee and/or Delegated Authority working is also an advantage.
Main function of job
To progress cases, under supervision, to an effective and satisfactory conclusion for clients whilst providing and maintaining management information under the terms of the client service level agreement. The case load is likely to be a mixture of occupational deafness and short tail disease.
- Responsible to: Insurance Partner(s)
- Liaison with: Insurance Clients, and the wider Occupational Health team.
- To action all cases in line with department/client service standards and protocols.
- To deal with technical aspects of the case, under the supervision of a Partner or other senior team member where appropriate
- To ensure that financial targets are met.
- Use of the Case Management system and use of standard documentation wherever appropriate.
- To ensure client care in all cases.
- Progress cases to a satisfactory/speedy settlement in accordance with client requirements.
- Record all time accurately.
- Partake in any other duties that are deemed necessary to support the DWF business as and when required, in particular the BD activities of the team in relation to collateral, events and presentations.
- To follow all the Firm's policies and procedures.
- To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
