            Scotland Training Contract

Our training contract is the first step on your journey to become an outstanding commercial lawyer at a global legal business.

Before you start your training contract with us, you will complete the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at a provider of your choice. Provided that you haven't already started the diploma at the point of offer, we will sponsor your fees for this qualification. In the year before your training contract starts, we will host a range of events with your fellow trainees, so that you feel settled before you even start.

As a DWF trainee, you’ll work with partners, directors and associates on complex, high value work. We are meritocratic, and you are recognised for the work you do, not your job title or how long you have been here. You may also have the opportunity to undertake a secondment with a client and it is likely that you will rotate between the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. The flexible nature of the training contract will enable you to gain the broadest experience possible.

You’ll be provided with all the support you need to succeed, including a mix of practical day-to-day experience, training, and in-house lectures and workshops. You will be assigned a mentor who has been in your shoes and can share their experiences too.

Half way through your seat, you will meet with our training principal and a member of HR to discuss your progress and help you to decide which seat you want to join next. The two years will soon pass and you’ll be discussing your qualification with our training principal before you know it.

The support doesn’t all stop there...we have a dedicated team who will support you through the transition and through your first years as a qualified solicitor.
