Summer Vacation Scheme - Harry Tang

Harry Tang is one of the students who have taken part in our Vacation Scheme in Liverpool this year. As his two weeks comes to an end, Harry reflects on the highlights of his time at DWF.

"DWF's dynamic and award-winning Vacation Scheme lives up to its reputation; I spent the last two weeks spending time with the Motor Fraud and Insured Litigation teams, where from day one, I was given significant responsibility. From attending Court Hearings, to sitting into client meetings, the variety of work is diverse. This was not without the support and workshops provided by Supervisors, your trainee buddy, and all members of the team – we were given thorough feedback regarding tasks set, and also room for improvement. The value-driven work culture has been the most fascinating – everyone from the firm is dedicated in giving the best learning experience to Vacation Scheme students; in a way, we were treated like trainees in training!

Apart from work, we were treated to several social events, from opening drinks, pizza-making to a partner's dinner by the Albert Docks in Liverpool, with Andy Nichol (Liverpool's Executive Partner) in attendance. I was astounded at the level of insight into the firm's values, strategy and culture, as well as the drive in providing an innovative legal service towards clients. Most of all, there was no level of hierarchy, and everyone was very friendly and supportive of one another.

I highly recommend applying for DWF's Vacation Scheme – an invaluable legal experience where students are given responsibility and training from the first day, and a great opportunity to network with lawyers, and other students too. The application process may be rigorous, but it was all worth it!"
