Business law firm DWF has been recognised as the runner up in the Regulatory Team of the Year category at this year’s The Lawyer Awards. The Awards were held on Tuesday 25 June at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.
DWF was up against some strong competition, including Herbert Smith Freehills and Lawrence Graham. The firm’s achievement in this category is testament to the hard work and commitment of the team in exceeding its clients’ expectations.
The national team, headed by Steffan Groch, advises a range of high profile clients on health & safety systems and procedures, with an emphasis on corporate manslaughter, directors’ duties and tackling workplace claims cultures. In particular, the team has been commended for its work with a national retailer after the Food Standards Authority of Ireland (FSAI) detected horsemeat and horse DNA in the retailer's beef burgers during testing.
In addition to such high profile work, the team also uses its expertise to anticipate and respond to market demand and to seek out innovative, added value services. An example is Crisis Response (CR), created due to a gap in the market for a facility to support companies faced with serious incidents, process failures or workplace fatalities. DWF has built links with media specialists, clinical psychologists and business continuity experts to provide a CR service to clients. Through one dedicated phone number the team, including its media containment, business continuity and trauma specialist partners, is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to support clients during and after any serious incident.
