National business law firm, DWF, has joined Stonewall Scotland’s Diversity Champions programme, which promotes and develops good practice for employers. The programme, run by the gay equality charity, promotes a good working environment for all existing and potential employees and helps to ensure equal treatment for those who are lesbian, gay or bisexual.
DWF is the second law firm in Scotland to sign up and joins employers as diverse as Barclays, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and the University of Glasgow on the programme, which has over 600 major employer members across Britain.
Tyrone Jones, Head of Values and Corporate Responsibility at DWF, commented: ‘At DWF our values shape who we are, what we do and how we do things. Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is something we are determined to build and maintain to enable our people to realise their potential and continue to deliver outstanding service to our clients. By supporting and developing our lesbian, gay and bisexual staff through the Diversity Champions programme we are sending out a powerful message to both our existing and potential clients and people.
‘We are proud to join the programme and look forward to working with Stonewall Scotland in the development of our equality and diversity commitments around sexual orientation.’
Nicola Swan, Client Account Manager, Stonewall Scotland said: 'By joining the Diversity Champions programme DWF has recognised that people perform better when they can be themselves. Our members are employers who want to recruit, recognise, and support the very best staff regardless of background. We are proud to work with organisations such as DWF who strive to help make British workplaces fair and equal in our lifetime’.
