National business law firm, DWF, is expanding its real estate team with the appointment of real estate partner Melanie Williams.
With over 10 years' experience Melanie focuses on the investment and funding of development projects and property tax driven transactions. She has particular expertise in the acquisition of hotels, development and refurbishment projects, in addition to handling asset management work for investors, landlord and tenant matters and real estate finance.
Joining DWF's Birmingham office from Squire Sanders, Melanie's experience in the real estate sector will further strengthen the national real estate teams' offering. She is considered a market leader, along with colleague Jon Stevens, in utilising property tax reliefs in structuring real estate investment projects.
Nic Crocker, national head of real estate at DWF, said: "Melanie is nationally recognised for her niche expertise in structuring and transacting projects using specialist tax incentives, having acted for a number of private equity funds in this area. She is a key addition to both our regional and national teams and her appointment demonstrates our continued commitment to growth."
Melanie added: "I am pleased to be joining the firm at such an exciting time in its growth. DWF is an extremely good fit for my expertise, given its strength in funds and the hospitality & leisure sector, and I am looking forward to working closely with the teams in Birmingham and London to expand our offering and make further inroads into the London funds market."
Melanie's appointment is the latest in a number of high profile hires for DWF. In August the firm announced the appointment of Toby Askin, head of real estate for a combined London and Birmingham team, which was followed by the appointment of Jon Stevens, corporate tax partner, in September 2013. Melanie will work alongside Toby Askin in the leadership and growth of the Birmingham real estate team.
