DLA Piper and Osborne Clarke both worked on seven deals, although there was a large difference in value, with DLA's transactions worth £6bn to Osborne Clarke's £168m.

Hill Dickinson with six deals worth £47m made up the top five.

Hogan Lovells, Slaughter and May, Addleshaw Goddard, Shoosmiths and Pinsent Masons all worked on five deals.

Frank Shephard, Corporate Partner in the North West commented "Looking at the quality of our competition, these results demonstrate that DWF are now well established as a rising force in a number of areas. Our ambitious national growth has had particularly beneficial results for the long-established team in the North West which can add new clients and resources to an already strong core. This will support the growing corporate team across other regions and we will be striving to maintain the number one position."
