We’re proud of our training contract and we are often recognised for it including receiving ‘All about Law’s Top Law firm for Training Contracts’ award.
Securing a training contract with us is the first step on your journey to becoming a first class commercial lawyer. You don’t need to have studied law to become a solicitor. In fact, nearly half of our current trainees come from different academic backgrounds. What really matters is that you have the drive and dedication that it takes.
Our unique training contract is divided up into six four-month seats. This gives you the opportunity to experience more practice groups than a traditional training contract and ensures that you have the chance to explore every avenue. We’re committed to your career progression and want you to be sure you qualify into the area you really want.
You’ll work alongside partners, directors and associates on complex and high value work. Importantly, you’re recognised for the work you do and not your title or how long you have been here.
We will provide you with the training that you need to become an effective qualified solicitor
You’ll combine your practical day-to-day experience with in-house lectures and workshops.
We’re also interested in you and your personal development. We want to get to know you and understand your individual needs. You’ll be assigned a mentor who has been where you are and can share their experiences with you and will guide you through the early stages of your career. Many of our trainees have the opportunity to complete a secondment with one of key clients and can rotate between our offices.
Before you start your training contract
Before joining the firm you need to complete a bespoke DWF LPC or the Scottish Diploma. We will support you with all the arrangements, including paying your fees.
It’s important to us that you feel part of DWF right from the outset and we will be staying in touch while you study. We’ll provide you with regular updates on what is happening across the firm, arrange socials and start to build your network.
