DWF raises £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support in charity match

National law firm DWF has raised £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support in a charity football match against the All Stars FC, a team of local celebrities including Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street) and Chris Bisson (Jai Sharma in Emmerdale).

The match, which took place on Sunday 20 July at Wright Robinson College in Gorton, was a fundraising event for DWF Manchester’s charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support. The money raised will be able to pay for 48 hours of care from a Macmillan nurse and is enough for five families to receive Macmillan Grants to help with the added cost of dealing with the day-to-day impact of living with cancer.

The All Stars team won 4-2 on the day.  Phil Duignan, litigation associate and captain of the DWF team, commented: "We hold many fundraising events throughout the year and it was great to see so many people attend the match. Even though the score didn’t go in our favour we’re really pleased to have raised such a significant amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support."

The match was held in conjunction with a family fun day which saw entertainment and refreshments provided by The Manchester Prairie Dogs, Skylight Circus Arts, The Barnhouse Bistro and Pretty Tasty Treats.
