Members of the DWF education sector attended the Higher and Further Education Expo in London, to showcase a range of services DWF provides for the sector: including Crisis Response, Advantage Online Training and Business Restructuring for education providers.
The DWF education sector team attended the Higher & Further Education show 2014, at the Olympia in London, alongside other key exhibitors including the Association of Colleges, Universities UK and London Universities Purchasing Consortium.
The team were on hand to help delegates with legal queries and provide information on the range of services and products on offer at DWF.
Our Crisis Response product was well received by delegates at the show who were looking to safeguard their educational institutions. Subscribers to our free ‘Crisis Response’ product receive access to a 24/7 support helpline to call in the event of a crisis - such as a death on campus or a student / lecturer being arrested on criminal charges. Subscribers also receive regular updates and case studies on any new statutory or regulatory issues that may affect crisis planning, and invitations to dedicated workshops which provide practical advice on crisis prevention as well as navigating through the challenges of a crisis itself.
Delegates were also offered a free trial of Advantage Online Training to support education providers with key employment issues. This is an initiative which encourages education providers to further develop their managers and improve their understanding of key employment issues. “This training has been designed to provide clients with up-to-date information on key employment issues in a flexible, cost-effective format. By covering topics such as managing long and short term absence, running fair disciplinary procedures and addressing discrimination issues, we’re supporting clients through key issues which could be experienced at any time.” Fiona Miller Employment Director at DWF .
At the show we also spoke to delegates on how financial pressures can ultimately lead to under investment, under performance and in some cases, insolvency within the education sector. In response to these issues and trends, DWF has developed a business restructuring service to help education providers clients to tackle issues, using our skills and knowledge in business restructuring to help support clients faced with such circumstances.
There was an insightful range of seminars throughout the day discussing the commercial challenges faced by higher and further education providers including increased competition, changes in funding and almost daily government policy announcements. And at the heart of this the changes in the dynamic of the relationship with students.
A worthwhile event offering plenty of food for thought!
