DWF hosts Stonewall event to celebrate diversity in the North West

DWF hosted the North West Stonewall Top Employers 2015 event to bring together the region’s top gay-friendly employers and celebrate diversity in the North West.

The event, held at DWF’s Manchester office, revealed the full results of the North West Stonewall Top Employers 2015: The Workplace Equality Index, and commended the most outstanding North West employers, including The Co-operative and University of Manchester.

Paul Maddock, a solicitor at DWF who was recently named in the Telegraph's Top 50 LGBT Out at Work Executives list, said: “Today’s event offered a real opportunity to commend key North West businesses that believe, like us, diversity makes a business stronger and that everyone should have the opportunity to reach their full potential in a supportive environment.”

The Top 100 list is based on the results of Stonewall’s Workplace Equality 2015, the eleventh published by the charity. The Index is based on a range of key indicators which include a confidential questionnaire of lesbian, gay and bisexual staff, with over 10,000 participants. This found that 29 per cent of lesbian, gay and bisexual workers in the North West are completely out at work about their sexual orientation – the highest proportion of workers anywhere in Britain.
