DWF shortlisted in Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards

Three individuals from DWF’s Birmingham team have been shortlisted in the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards, which highlight the firms and individuals across all levels of the legal spectrum who have demonstrated outstanding professional accomplishments alongside active involvement in their professional and regional communities.

Laura Longman, a trainee in the firm’s litigation team in Birmingham, has been shortlisted for Trainee of the Year. Commended by partners as ‘a proven performer who will go far’, Laura has undertaken seats in DWF’s corporate, business restructuing, insurance and real estate teams. She has also been involved the firm’s mentoring scheme, coaching both University and year 10 students.

Mark Kenkre, a partner in the DWF’s commercial litigation team and joint head of the fraud and risk team, has been shortlisted for International Lawyer of the Year. Specialising in complex and commercially sensitive fraud disputes, Mark is also the Director of the Midlands Fraud Forum and a member of the Fraud Advisory Panel. Mark sits on the firm’s International Operations Team, where he heads the Turkey Desk and leads the firm’s relationship with the Turkish British Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Derek Adamson, national head of occupational health and casualty at DWF, has been shortlisted in the Partner of the Year category. Recognised as the leading defendant personal injury solicitor in the Midlands, Derek has led a number of high profile cases and has taken two ground breaking cases to the Supreme Court in the last three years.

Caroline Coates, executive partner at DWF’s Birmingham office, said: “These awards recognise top talent at all levels, and we’re thrilled to have three members of the Birmingham team recognised not only for their professional achievements but also their contributions to the Birmingham community through charitable activity, pro bono work and professional memberships. Laura, Mark and Derek are outstanding representatives of DWF and these nominations are well deserved.”

The winners, selected by a judging panel comprising senior figures from academia, business, finance and law, will be announced at an awards ceremony on 19 March 2015.
