DWF partner appointed to the Office for Legal Complaints

DWF executive partner in Birmingham Caroline Coates has been appointed by the Legal Services Board to join the Office for Legal Complaints as a non-lay member to support the administration of the Legal Ombudsman for England and Wales.

The Office for Legal Complaints (OLC) is the Board of the Legal Ombudsman, which provides an independent and impartial complaints resolution body for the legal sector.

Today’s announcement also saw Michael Kaltz, partner at Ernst & Young; Tony King, Pensions Ombudsman; Jane McCall, managing director of landlord at the Trafford Housing Trust and Dr Bernard Herdan join the OLC as lay members. All appointments are made by the Legal Services Board in accordance with the Legal Services Act 2007.

Caroline Coates, litigation partner and executive partner for the Birmingham office, said: “It’s a great honour to join the Office for Legal Complaints. The Legal Ombudsman is a fair, independent organisation that ensures we maintain and strive for higher standards within the legal sector. It’s made a real difference since its inception in 2010 and I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue this good work.”
