DWF shortlisted in Responsible Business Awards 2015

Top 20 legal business DWF has been shortlisted for the School Partnership accolade at this year’s Responsible Business Awards, run by Business in the Community.

DWF has been recognised for its innovative education programme 5 STAR Futures that delivers a range of tailored workshops to over 30 schools across the UK. The programme focuses on working with aspirational young people from low income backgrounds and provides them with a practical framework enabling them to improve confidence, build resilience and develop key employability skills for the future.

Due to the success of the initiative, DWF has rolled out a significant programme of activity to support almost 900 students across the UK – helping to improve social mobility in its local communities.

The Responsible Business Awards celebrates UK businesses that are taking action to address social and environment issues to support their communities. The announcement of the shortlist coincides with Responsible Business Week (20-26 April 2015), an annual initiative to increase awareness of the positive contribution of business in society.

5 STAR Futures was founded by DWF lawyer Simon Price, who commented: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for this year’s Responsible Business Awards. Social background is still a major factor in determining a young person’s future, and through initiatives like 5 STAR Futures and long term partnerships with schools we want to stop social background predicting a young person’s success.”

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said “The Responsible Business Awards celebrate the very best of business, so it is fitting to be announcing the shortlist as part of Responsible Business Week, which raises awareness of business as a powerful force for good. We congratulate DWF for playing its part in creating a fairer society and more sustainable future. The shortlisted businesses publically demonstrate that business has a greater purpose then simply generating profit and are a great example to others.”

Overall winners will be announced in London at Business in the Community’s Annual Responsible Business Gala Dinner, in partnership with 2014 Responsible Business of the Year National Grid, on 7 July 2015.
