National legal business DWF has appointed Simon Stuttaford, former General Counsel and Company Secretary at EnergySolutions, as a partner in the firm’s national nuclear energy team. Based in Bristol, Simon will help develop the firm’s expertise across the energy sector both nationally and internationally. Simon was at EnergySolutions for four years, prior to which he worked for a number of top 50 law firms including Burges Salmon and K&L Gates.
In his role as General Counsel, Simon was engaged on a large number of high profile projects across the UK and Europe concerning the decommissioning of nuclear sites, the transportation of nuclear material and the clean-up of legacy nuclear sites. Bringing a strong background in environmental law and specialised knowledge of the key commercial and regulatory issues affecting the global nuclear decommissioning industry, Simon will help support DWF’s team as it expands its nuclear offering.
Simon has also advised on acquisitions strategy and commercial projects and has engaged with industry associations and authorities, including negotiations with the Nuclear Decomissioning Authority, on a wide range of policy issues including insurance and intellectual property.
Simon commented on his appointment: “DWF has a cutting-edge energy team that is making a real impact in the sector, and their strong client base and ongoing investment in the team has positioned them for further growth. I look forward to seeing how we can deepen relationships with existing clients and further develop the services we can provide.”
