DWF shortlisted for two equality and inclusion awards

National legal business DWF has been shortlisted for the Community Impact and Employee Network Group of the Year accolades at this year’s Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei) Awards.

DWF has been recognised for its innovative education programme 5 STAR Futures within the Community Impact category. The programme delivers a range of tailored workshops to over 30 schools across the UK and focuses on working with aspirational young people from low income backgrounds. 5 STAR Futures provides young people with a practical framework enabling them to improve confidence, build resilience and develop key employability skills for the future.

In addition, DWF has been shortlisted in the Employee Network Group of the Year for ‘OutFront’, a forward-thinking internal networking group that brings together the firm’s LGBT staff members to help support its people to reach their full potential in a supportive environment and improve the firm’s diversity agenda.

The enei Annual Awards 2015 celebrate UK businesses that are taking the lead in challenging discrimination and working inclusively to effectively support their workforces.

5 STAR Futures was founded by DWF lawyer Simon Price, who commented:“We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for this year’s Community Impact award. Building and maintaining strong community partnerships is key to driving our business forward in a responsible way. Working with young people, schools and employers, we want to stop social background predicting a young person’s success and through initiatives like 5 STAR Futures we can help to bridge the gap between education and employment in areas of social and financial deprivation.”

Paul Maddock, a solicitor at DWF and chair of OutFront, said: “The OutFront network has built on the inclusive approach of the business and has provided us with a platform to showcase LGBT initiatives - creating a supportive workplace for our people and helping to raise the profile of the firm’s diversity agenda. The network continues to expand and evolve, and being shortlisted for the Employee Network Group of the Year is testimony to its success.”

Overall winners will be announced in London at The Law Society on 14th July 2015.
