DWF wins award for most innovative use of office environment

National legal business DWF has been awarded ‘most innovative use of office environment’ at the 2015 Lawyer Business Leadership Awards for its approach to developing state-of-the-art office environments across the firm’s 12 UK locations using a range of technology-driven innovations that are transforming the way people work, facilitating agile working and reducing property costs.

DWF was commended for the business impact of its recent move into London’s Walkie Talkie building, which can support over 600 staff in less than half of the space of its City competitors as a result of tech-driven improvements which save space, reduce property costs and encourage agile working, including a world-first document management partnership with Canon. With a combination of meeting pods, hot desks, and a modern, open-plan design, the firm’s investment reflects a firm-wide commitment to developing engaging working environments for people and clients. The firm has also invested in the growth and upgrading of its other office locations across the UK, having added additional locations, including in Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and has made significant investments in refurbishing both its Newcastle and Bristol offices.

Karl Warmbold, Director of Facilities and Property at DWF, who was also shortlisted for Business Leader of the Year, commented: “This award reflects the hard work of our teams in developing highly efficient and innovative environments for our employees which facilitate teamwork and knowledge-sharing across the business and enable us to deliver outstanding service to our clients.”

The firm’s developments in operational management and people engagement over the last year have resulted in a strong track record of awards, including Legal Innovator of the Year at the 2015 Legal Business Awards and Best Leadership of Innovation and Best Managed Workplace at the 2015 Managing Partners Awards for Management Excellence Awards. Last year DWF was also ranked one of the Financial Times’ Top 50 Most Innovative Firms in Europe.
