National legal business DWF has further expanded its insurance practice with the appointment of DAC Beachcroft’s National Head of Technical Fraud Miles Hepworth, following the appointment of DAC Beachcroft’s Lorraine Carolan as DWF’s National Head of Counter Fraud earlier this year.
Miles brings extensive expertise in counter fraud and claims validation, with experience in defending suspected fraudulent insurance claims including motor claims, employer’s liability, public liability as well as first party fraud. Miles has worked closely with a number of clients in developing appropriate fraud strategy and providing training and support. Prior to moving into insurance fraud he specialised in shipping law both in the UK and South Africa and is legally qualified in both countries. Based in Birmingham, Miles will further strengthen the firm’s fraud capability and help to further develop its profile in the market.
Miles commented: “DWF’s insurance practice has strength and breadth and the fraud team is rapidly developing in response to client demand for not just legal advice, but for an advisor who can combine fraud expertise with innovative, business-focused solutions based around legal intelligence and consultancy services. The firm has a strong track record for developing bespoke solutions for insurer clients and I look forward to helping DWF continue to innovate in this area.
Lorraine added “We’re investing heavily in expanding our fraud offerings in order to combat the increasingly diverse nature of fraud cases and increase the support we can offer clients through improved information management solutions, and Miles brings specialist technical knowledge and a client-driven approach that will allow us to continue developing this capability in line with our clients’ business needs. Miles will be an excellent addition to DWF’s market-leading counter fraud intelligence and consultancy team, and I look forward to working with him again.”
DWF is recognised as one of the top three law firms in the UK for insurance work and the firm’s 200-strong National Counter Fraud Team is one of the largest in the UK. The firm advises on a wide range of fraud services including risk consultancy, fraud detection advice, fraud management litigation and suspicious claims across all policy classes from motor fraud to commercial and general insurance claims. DWF recently merged with niche insurance practice Watmores in order to support national and international growth strategies and strengthen relationships and delivers legal, intelligence and consultancy services to some of the largest insurers in the industry, including Royal Sun Alliance and Ageas.
