DWF shortlisted in national insurance awards for tech and innovation

Leading legal business DWF has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards - Internet of Things Breakthrough and Data Analytics Excellence – recognising the firm’s insurance capability, ground-breaking initiatives and innovative, tech-led approaches to delivering legal services to its insurer clients.

DWF is shortlisted for Data Analytics Excellence for utilising data analytics and profiling outcomes to provide significant insight into fraud trends and claimant behaviour for the firm’s insurer clients, enabling them to identify fraud leakage patterns. The firm leverages the intelligence gained from the technology, working side-by-side with insurers, to develop market-leading strategies combatting fraud trends and reducing indemnity spend for clients.

The firm has also been shortlisted for Internet of Things Breakthrough in recognition of its work collaborating with insurers on the use of telematics technology and predictive profiling across all areas of a client’s business and significantly improving insurers’ claims performance. DWF was involved in the first case telematics data was used to disprove a fraudulent motor claim and played a significant role in seeing the technology deployed industry-wide.

DWF’s national Head of Counter Fraud Lorraine Carolan says: “We’re really pleased to be recognised for the work we do with our clients. Technology is having a massive impact on the insurance industry and how insurers successfully profile clients to ensure the best return on investment. DWF is leading the way for insurers to use technology to their benefit and gain clear understanding into clients and market trends allowing more informed decisions to be made and reducing spend.”

DWF circa 900-strong insurance team has strengthened its counter fraud capability to the benefit of its national and international insurer clients, including Aviva, QBE and RSA, with the recent launch of a new counter fraud team in Scotland following the appointment of Head of Counter Fraud in Scotland Jill Sinclair.

This year’s winners will be announced on 22 September.
