Fraud Counsel Seminar

How to deal with fraudsters who deliberately exaggerate claims

Zurich v Hayward: Moving forwards - How now to deal with Fraudsters who deliberately exaggerate claims.

Jayne Adams QC at Ropewalk Chambers has been ranked in the Chambers UK Bar 2017 for Personal Injury and is highlighted in the Disease Spotlight Table. She frequently handles matters involving fraud and will be discussing what has been learnt from the Zurich v Hayward case and how to deal with fraudulent claims moving forward.

Jayne has been instructed throughout her career in relation to fraudulent, malingering and exaggerated claims on behalf of insurers and individual companies. She has had considerable success both in defending claims when the accident itself is suspect as well as in establishing a very reduced value to claims often pleaded in excess of £1 million. There is a considerable overlap between this work and her personal injury practice.

Aniqah Rafi, Associate at DWF LLP who leads the NIHL Fraud team will also be discussing strategies and tactics that can be used by applying what we have learnt so far to tackle matters early on.

Aniqah deals with various cases which allows her to forsee the current trends and anticipate issues that may arise, helping her to offer tips for triage.

Jayne and Aniqah will be happy to take questions after the seminar.
