In May 2014 we reported that the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) had published a discussion paper titled “Transparency & Trust: Enhancing the transparency and accountability in the UK”. (For more information please read our article 'Enhancing transparency and cutting red tape')
As part of the Government’s drive to improve corporate transparency, it has been announced that Companies House is to make the majority of its digital data available free of charge by June 2015.
The Government’s intention is that the change will make it easier for people to research and scrutinise the activities and ownership of companies and connected individuals.
The Government estimates that last year £8.7 million was spent by customers accessing company information through Companies House. This information is intended as a general discussion surrounding the topics covered and is for guidance purposes only.
