ASA complaint upheld re 15% off claim

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint about a line included in a Homebase 15% off general Easter promotion on the basis that due to previous promotional activity for the line concerned the normal price could not be substantiated.

Duty fraud costing £1.3Bn

The Annual report of the Joint Alcohol Anti-Fraud Task Force has estimated losses to the revenue alone of £1.3Bn and pledged further measures in cooperation with the business community to tackle the issue.

Updated guidance on unfair contract terms and notices

The Competition and Markets Authority has published updated guidance to take into account the Consumer Rights Act.

Consultation on Living Minimum Wage

The Low Pay Commission has issued a consultation on Government proposals to significantly increase the Minimum Wage – Closing Date 25 September.
