Proof of sale at higher price required

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint concerning a reduction from a previous price claim by DFS, despite copy clearance by Clearcast on the basis that it had not seen evidence that the higher price claimed had in fact been charged as opposed to just advertised.

EU Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation under review

EU DG Health published a roadmap and initial consultation for a better regulation review of all aspects of the Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation, including claims approval and nutrition profiling. Closing date 5 November.

Scottish Government continues interventionist policies

The Scottish Government has announced its intention to set a target for food waste reduction, confirmed its commitment to setting a minimum unit price for alcohol and also set detailed procurement requirements for public bodies including payment of the ‘Living Wage’.

Consultation on use of GM food and feed

Food Pressure group Sustain have highlighted a consultation by FSA on a Commission proposal to give member states more freedom to set policies regarding the use of GM on grounds other than food safety. Closing date 28 October.

Enterprise Bill starts passage in House of Lords

Monday 12 October sees the first debate on the Bill.
