Sentencing guidelines published

The Sentencing Council has published ‘definitive’ guidelines for the sentencing of all Health and Safety, Corporate Manslaughter, Food Safety and Food Hygiene Offences from 1 February 2016 (regardless of when the offence was committed).

National database of food law convictions

The Food Standards Agency has set up a publically accessible database of all food law convictions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland notified to it since April 2015.

Private car parking fines ruled legitimate

The Supreme Court has ruled that an £85 penalty charge for overstaying in a car park with clear signs displayed as to two hours free parking and level of penalty were legally enforceable.

Government responds on EU Alcohol strategy
