Commitment to minimum unit pricing: The Scottish Government has renewed its pledge to implement at 50p minimum price per unit for off sales of alcohol, claiming that 51% of alcohol consumed in Scotland is currently sold at under this price level. View »

e-commerce package launched: EU Dg Justice and Consumers has launched a package of measures aimed at enhancing consumer ability and confidence to trade across national borders, addressing geoblocking, transparency of delivery charges and clarity of banned practices in guidance under the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive. View » 

CMA consumer enforcement powers: The Competition and Markets Authority is consulting on guidance explaining its enhanced consumer powers - Closing date 21 July. View »

Competition issues: The Competition and Markets Authority has imposed a £2.3m penalty on a fridge supplier for trying to prevent online retail discounting. View »  

CMA has also announced an investigation of model agencies and their trade association for alleged competition law breaches. View »

Better Markets Bill: The Department for Business Innovation and Skillls has launched a consultation on proposals in the Queens speech to make switching between utilities suppliers easier, and explore adequacy of advice, representation and availability of complaints data –Closing dates 23, 24 JuneView »

Guidance on Psychoactive Substances Regulations: The Association of Convenience Stores has published detailed retail guidance for members on the new requirements. View »

Campylobacter survey results: The Food Standards Agency has published the latest results from its analysis of retail chicken carcasses without naming individual retailers. The results show a continuing downward trend in contamination levels. Naming of retailers is apparently to restart in January 2017. View »

New areas of regulatory competence for the Scottish Government: The Scottish Government has set out the additional powers resulting from the Scotland Act 2016 devolution settlement. View »

Updated import/export guidance: DEFRA have published updated guidance relating to live animals and animal by-products. View »
