Global Trade Facilitation agreement enters force: The World Trade Organisation, Trade Facilitation Agreement has entered force having now been signed by 2/3 of the WTO membership (110 countries). The agreement aims to progressively cut non-tariff and non-quota related barriers to tradeand is estimated to be worth £70Bn to the global economy:  WTO > Comment: UK Department for International Trade > EU Dg Trade >

Recall actions criticised: The Local Government Association has criticised Whirlpool for the time taken to issue instructions to put tumble driers subject to recall out of use pending repair or replacement. The business has now done this, following issue of an enforcement notice to warn by Peterborough Trading Standards. The LGA is also calling for the fireproof identification marking of all domestic electrical appliances. View > 

In sharp contrast is a recent $5.8m civil penalty imposed on Keurig Green Mountain by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission following a safety issue. View >

Russian pork import ban ruled illegal: The World Trade Organisation has ruled that a ban on EU pork imports to Russia from the EU is not justified. View > View >

EU protected food names: West Wales Coracle Caught Salmon has been authorised as a protected geographical indication. View > View > DEFRA has revised the specification for the UK application for Traditional Welsh Caerphilly. View >

Trade Associations write to Government re business rates reform: A number of major UK Trade Associations have written jointly to Government, setting out their concerns on revaluation of properties and reform. View >
