My real estate experience extends to cover property development and property investment. I deal with site acquisition work for substations and for a substantial retirement housing developer (I manage the plot sales team). I am therefore used to dealing with leases and landlords and tenants. My clients include commercial developers and investors, football clubs and sports facilities operators and I also deal with a number of telecoms related issues.
I have dealt with the grid connections for Scotland's biggest wind farms and have a thorough knowledge of the renewables industry as well as the operation of the electricity and energy industry in Scotland.
As well as lobbying for law reform for property clients, I am a frequent speaker on legal issues. With a clear no-nonsense approach, I am much in demand to provide in-house training for a number of clients, both lawyers and non-lawyers alike.
Significant projects include a cross-country gas pipeline, the proposed re-energising of a major coal-fired power station, town centre regeneration development acting for the sponsoring local authority, a substantial disposal programme of petrol filling stations for a national fuel retailer and the development of a major new golf course.
I handle all legal work in Scotland for McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s premiere developer of private sheltered housing for the elderly.
Having a particular interest in e-commerce and technology issues, I sit on the Technology Committee of the Law Society of Scotland and was a member of the Implementation Group working with the Keeper of the Registers of Scotland on the introduction of the Automated Registration of Title to Land system.
