I also have significant experience of alternative dispute resolution. In particular, I have been involved in numerous mediations and accept instructions to act as an expert witness in expert determinations and early neutral evaluations. By way of example, I have acted as an expert for the Russian Courts on matters of English law and I also receive instructions from large accountancy practices and in-house lawyers to provide expert opinions.
Over the past few years, I have been involved in cases governed by a variety of laws, including Russia, BVI, Cyprus, Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey, the Cayman Islands, the Netherlands, India, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, New York, Bermuda, Cameroon and Ethiopia.
Due to the nature and value of my work, my cases are often high-profile and have featured in many publications including The Financial Times,Wall Street Journal, Kommersant, The Moscow Times, New York Times, Bloomberg, Sky News, Dow Jones, Business Week, Forbes, Hollywood Reporter, Crain’s New York Business, Reuters, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times and the BBC.
My cases also often involve household names such as BP plc, 20th Century Fox, the London Stock Exchange, Facebook, Sony Computer Entertainment, Merrill Lynch and Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), and I am well-versed in reputation protection and brand management.
I am an accomplished orator and have spoken on International Arbitration at the British Embassy in Moscow, in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). I also hosted and spoke at the first ever Russo-British Young Lawyers Exchange Programme.
I also contributed to the arbitration section of “Shareholders' Agreements” by Muth and Fitzgerald, co-wrote the English Law chapter of 'Kommentar zur CMR' by Karl-Heinz Thume (a leading textbook on international transport law) and also contribute to the LCIA’s Young International Arbitration Group e-newsletter.
Because of my successes in court and in arbitration, I am ranked in the Legal 500 and I was shortlisted as Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2013.
Significant recent cases include:
- $9billion dispute regarding oil ventures in Russia and Ukraine
- 12billion rouble dispute in the LCIA regarding a loan agreement between a Russian bank and Cypriot fund
