I act for national and multinational businesses, including FTSE 100 businesses as well as education institutions and fast-growth SMEs, providing strategic, and very often, urgent advice to many household names.
I am a commercial litigator and dispute specialist, described in the Legal 500 as ‘relentless’ in pursuit of my clients’ aims. I aim for resolution in all aspects of my work, often through mediation, arbitration or expert determination.
My work and clients are national but I typically work for businesses in the north, north-east and Newcastle, Tyne and Wear. Much of my work is in the food, retail, education and healthcare sectors.
I am recognised by the Legal 500 for my defamation practice as I have particular expertise in advising on reputational issues. This covers advice on malicious falsehood, harassment, breach of confidence and privacy in the media, both in printed publications and on social media, for example Facebook, blogging, Twitter and YouTube.
I act in high value and complex litigation, including pensions disputes and fraud. I have been invited several times by the North East Fraud Forum to speak as an authority on both defamation and civil fraud. I also have significant experience in breach of commercial contracts, warranty claims, negligence actions and breach of director’s duties and regularly provide injunctive advice on breach of confidentiality, data theft, database rights and breach of restrictive covenants.
I am a member of DWF’s Corporate Responsibility Group which helps to organise charity fundraising and volunteering contributions in the local community.
