            Andrew McConnell

            Senior Associate

            Andrew is an Associate within the Professional Indemnity & Commercial Insurance team in Glasgow.

            Andrew has gained a vast amount of experience in the field of professional negligence, particular in relation to solicitors' claims. Andrew acts exclusively for professional indemnity insurance clients and regularly handles high value, complex claims giving succinct advice on all matters concerning liability, causation and quantum. Andrew also has also dealt with professional negligence claims against Accountants, IFAs, Property Managers and Third Sector Organisations. He appears regularly in Sheriff Courts and works extensively with external Counsel in Court of Session matters.

            In addition to his experience in solicitors' negligence claims, Andrew is specialising in the PI construction field and has already acted in various construction claims representing various construction professionals such as architects, structural engineers, M&E engineers and D&B contractors.

            Andrew continues to significantly expand his knowledge of the PI construction market as he works regularly from our London office, assisting the PI Construction team with highly complex construction claims including multi-jurisdictional cases together with high value coverage declinature claims.

            Andrew regularly acts on behalf of the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in relation to medical appeals in Scotland. In addition, Andrew has also acted on behalf of DVLA in respect of various Fatal Accident Inquiries throughout Scotland.

            Andrew also has an excellent track record of settling claims and Court actions through effective negotiation. He has a keen interest in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and has proven his ability continuously to settle matters extra-judicially through the use of his own negotiation skills.
