Specialising in international commercial and investment arbitration, I have worked on arbitrations across a variety of industry sectors, including private equity, banking and finance, construction/real estate, commodities, hospitality, oil and gas and shipping.
I have extensive experience across all types of international commercial arbitration in both common and civil law jurisdictions, across the US, Europe and the Middle East, acting both as advising counsel and arbitrator. I have been appointed to the CIETAC and ADCCAC Panel of Arbitrators and hold rights of audience before the DIFC Courts. I have been recommended for international arbitration in the 2014 and 2015 editions of The Legal 500 and am also listed as a leading arbitration specialist in Who’s Who Legal 2015.
I am recognised as a thought-leader in both international and antitrust arbitration. I am on the editorial board of a number of leading arbitration and competition law journals including the CIArb Journal and the Global Competition Litigation Review and provide regular contributions to KLI Arbitration Blog. I am a regular speaker on arbitration and competition law world-wide and a member of a number of leading arbitration organisations, including the UAE ICC Steering Committee.
I am the author of a number of books on international arbitration and litigation and have recently published with Thomson Reuters the Annotated Guide to Arbitration in the UAE: Volume I – The UAE Arbitration Chapter, the first-ever commentary in English on the UAE Arbitration Chapter.

I am a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science and an élève étranger of the École Nationale d’Administration (E.N.A.). I hold an LLM in European Litigation from the Universities of Luxembourg and Strasbourg as well as a PhD in Law from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. I have trained as stagiaire-référendaire with the European Union Courts in Luxembourg and as stagiaire-administrateur with the late Merger Task Force of the European Commission in Brussels. I also served a training period with the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. I am fluent in English, German, French and Spanish.
