I successfully resolve disputes on the best possible terms at the earliest possible stage. Much of my work involves the provision of early stage, tactical and strategic advice to deliver a successful outcome in the most cost effective way. I regularly advise portfolio owners and occupiers on the full ambit of commercial property management work including business lease renewals, claims for breach of covenant, issues regarding landlord’s consent, tenant insolvency, forfeiture and various lease termination issues.
Key examples of my expertise include successfully challenging the validity of tenant break options through declaratory proceedings in the High Court; and successfully pursuing/defending significant six and seven figure claims for terminal dilapidations involving expert surveying and valuation evidence.
I also have considerable experience of the contentious aspects of development work, such as devising and implementing site clearance exercises to secure possession against protected tenants of commercial premises required for redevelopment (including as part of a high profile £200m scheme).
I am an active member of the Property Litigation Association and am a regular speaker at seminars and events both for the firm and for other organisations (such as the RICS).
