I have acted on some of the most significant M&A transactions in the Irish market in recent years.
From a general M&A perspective, notable deals on which I have acted include:
- The sale by way of auction of Statoil Irish operations for circa €260 million.
- The sale by way of auction of the Jurys Inn hotel chain for €1.165bn.
- The acquisition by BlackRock of Credit Suisse's Irish domiciled ETF range.
- The sale by Bank of America, of its Irish domicile short term money market fund.
Equity market transactions that I have been involved in include the admission to the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange (and the Enterprise Securities Market of the Irish Stock Exchange) of Norkom Group plc (subsequently acquired by BAE Systems for €217m).
I was the lead Partner advising Conroy Diamonds & Gold plc on the spin-off of its diamond interests into Karelian Diamond Resources plc by way of a High Court approved Scheme of Arrangement, and the subsequent admission of Karelian Diamond Resources plc to the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange and share placing.
I was the lead Corporate Partner advising Kingfisher plc on the examinership of its Irish DIY subsidiary, B&Q Ireland in 2013, and have historically advised Marriott on its Irish operations, including the Irish aspects of the reorganisation of Marriott's timeshare business (Marriott Vacation Club) into Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation, Inc., which subsequently listed on the NYSE.
My retail sector experience includes advising Boots Ireland on general corporate and M&A matters, as well as advising Arcadia Group on Irish legal matters.
I have worked on a number of cross border M&A transactions, working closely with counsel in the US, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Sweden. I worked for a number of years in Brussels including stints in the European Commission and with Deloitte Belgium.
