Working as part of our nationally renowned Insurance team I have specialised exclusively in costs services and associated commercial litigation and disputes for 23 years.
I primarily deal with personal injury matters but also cases involving commercial, intellectual property and real estate disputes, insolvency and employment matters, Solicitor and client issues and criminal and regulatory matters.
I provide training, advice and assistance to solicitors, insurance companies and commercial clients in relation to all aspects of costs, including Conditional Fee Agreements, Collective Conditional Fee Agreements, retainers, challenging third party costs, minimising third party costs and time recording. Where necessary I prepare Bills of Costs, points of dispute, replies to points of dispute, joint statements, skeleton arguments and undertake advocacy in relation to these areas.
I conducted the first post Hollins and Russell reported Court of Appeal case of Spencer v Wood, where the validity of the claimant’s conditional fee agreement was successfully challenged. I have acted and continue to act for all major insurance companies. I am also the Deputy Chairman of the FOIL special sector focus group on costs.
